Hometown Grocery Store’s Longstanding Support of Local Nonprofit
Reflects Shared Values of Family, Community

GLENCOE, IL – March is Family Service of Glencoe (FSG) Month, and the 97-year old nonprofit organization is grateful for the platform it provides to thank its loyal supporters. This support from individuals and organizations make it possible for FSG to offer its programs and services to those who need them the most.

The Grand Food Center of Glencoe has been a proud, loyal and long-standing supporter of Family Service of Glencoe. This community focused grocery store has offered financial support as well as generous supplies of delicious food at FSG’s events around town for many years.

During the month of March, The Grand Food Center in Glencoe will offer a fund-raising opportunity to support Family Service of Glencoe. Shoppers will be asked to save their receipts for the month of March and return them at the end of the month in envelopes available at The Grand to Family Service of Glencoe. Receipts will then be tabulated and The Grand will provide 6% of the total back to Family Service in the form of a donation.

Shoppers who submit their name and address along with their receipts will be automatically entered to win prizes such as a fully catered backyard BBQ, membership to Midtown Athletic Club in Bannockburn, and free grocery delivery for a month, all compliments of The Grand Food Center.

“We’re delighted to help FSG celebrate Family Service month in Glencoe,” says Chris Barber, co-owner of Grand Food Centers. “Last year’s program was a great success. We were able to donate over $3000 to Family Service. We’re hoping this year’s donation will end up being even bigger with the addition of the prize component, and encourage Glencoe residents to come in and shop for the benefit of this terrific organization.”

SERVING THE COMMUNITY: RESIDENTS AND EMPLOYEES, TOO

Many know FSG for its counseling services, offered to individuals, youths, couples and families going through life’s challenges, available at a sliding scale and free to those who are unemployed. However, what many residents might not know is that these services are offered to those who work here, too.

“At Family Service of Glencoe, we are here to serve not only Glencoe residents but to those who come to this town each day to make their living,” says Nancy Sutherland, Executive Director of Family Service of Glencoe. “We strive to support anyone in need who is a part of this community – whether only during the day for a job or as a resident.”

“As we see it,” Sutherland adds, “we are all connected.”

Reaching out to local employees means being there for several of Barber’s employees during their own time of need.

“FSG has helped several of our employees over the years, and I’ve seen myself what a difference that kind of support has made in my employee’s lives,” says Chris Barber. “It’s a testimony to the power Family Service can have. I’m grateful that FSG extends their services to those who work in Glencoe so my staff can receive the help they need to work through difficult times. It’s one of the many reasons I’m proud to support them.”

FAMILY FUN FEST – MARCH 20th
Family Service of Glencoe and Grand Food Center will join forces on March 20th when FSG will host “Family Fun Fest: Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies, Healthy Families” at the Takiff Center from 1:30 – 4:00. This popular annual event, open to the public and free of charge, will feature games in the gym, art activities, yoga demonstrations and more. Grand Food Center will be donating delicious food.

“This is a fun annual event and a great opportunity for us to thank the community that shows us so much support,” says Nancy Sutherland, Executive Director, Family Service of Glencoe. “We hope families can take time out from their busy schedules to come and enjoy a wonderful afternoon together.”
