Our Services> Crisis Intervention

Family Service has partnered with Glencoe Public Safety to provide psychological support to families in crisis.  If you are in crisis and need immediate help, please call 911.

Crisis Team

Family Service of Glencoe's crisis team, in partnership with Glencoe Public Safety, is available to care for residents in the event of a crisis such as:

  • A home fire
  • An incident of domestic or family violence
  • A child or adolescent emotional crisis
  • An elderly resident in need of assistance
  • A sudden death of a family member

FSG is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

FSG has close ties to other supporting emergency organizations who can help in times of crisis, such as the North Shore Senior Center, Haven Youth and Family Services, and Highland Park Hospital.

Our goal is to support families when they need it.  Sometimes that critical need happens in the middle of the night.  If that is the case, FSG will be there.

Emergency Response

One other important role played by Family Service of Glencoe is emergency crisis response in the event of a tragedy in our schools, businesses or homes.  FSG has systems in place to efficiently mobilize the entire staff if unforeseen trauma comes to our quiet village.  Through our emergency response planning, Family Service of Glencoe is proactively prepared to care for the Village of Glencoe during any of the challenges life can bring.

FSG takes a leadership role in a Township-wide Emergency Response program that coordinates services, provides education to professional volunteers, and provides community response when there is a crisis.  FSG staff cooperates with the police, the Township government, the clergy, mental health providers, family services and hospital emergency room personnel.

While planning for large-scale events such as natural disasters, terrorist events or major accidents is at the core of our Emergency Response planning, unexpected and tragic events can happen on a smaller scale.  No matter the size of the issue, Family Service of Glencoe is ready to respond to the needs of the community.

"Glencoe Public Safety responds first to an emergency.  We call  Family Service of Glencoe to respond to the issues the family has.  This allows Public Safety to go back to work".

Lt. Betsy Seno, Glencoe Public Safety
