Our Services > Youth Council

In response to two suicides of teens from schools within New Trier Township several years ago, Family Service of Glencoe brought together leaders from  schools, social service agencies and faith communities who serve Glencoe families to form the Glencoe Youth Council.  The Council meets to coordinate care, network and form alliances, and discuss issues related to prevention, education and support for our Glencoe youth and their families.

The Council meets to share concerns and to discuss ways to provide a safety net of care around our Glencoe families.  One critical topic has been prevention of depression and educating teens, parents and providers to recognize the "red flags" or warning signs of depression and suicidal behavior amongst Glencoe youth.
