Mindful Mandalas - The Healing Power of Creativity and Connection

  • AIR Studio 348 Tudor Court Glencoe, IL, 60022 United States (map)

The Mindful Mandalas group will meet over the course of 4 sessions - on the 1st Thursday of each month beginning on March 5th from 4:30 - 6:00 PM. This facilitator-led group designed to support emotional well-being, stress reduction, and self-reflection through mindful artistic expression. The group integrates basic mindfulness practices with accessible, process-focused art activities. No prior art experience is required.

The Group is facilitated and sponsored by Tami Sollo, LCSW Clinical Director at Family Service of Glencoe, and Air Studios, Glencoe. The group will be held at the studio and studio members will assist Tami in facilitating each group.

The Mandala: Over the course of four months, each group member will create their own personal Mandala. Each student will bring in a gemstone, rock, beach glass or flat beads to put in the center of their mandala. The choice will be something that holds meaning for them. Mandalas are repetitive patterns that radiate from the center, and that can assist the creator to achieve a meditative mindset. They are created with acrylic paints, both metallic and regular, and also combine crystals and any other items that each person may want to include. The symbols chosen will hold meaning. For example, Butterflies symbolize new beginnings. Tami will provide the students with a listing of several symbols and their meanings. All painting supplies will be provided.
